Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Employee by Design is committed to fostering equitable, inclusive, and respectful employment practices that uphold human dignity and promote fair access to opportunity for individuals across Canada.

While Employee by Design is based in Ontario, we support employers and job seekers nationwide and align our practices with the Ontario Human Rights Code as well as applicable federal and provincial human rights legislation across Canada.

We recognize that employment systems have not historically provided equal access or outcomes for everyone. Systemic and structural barriers continue to disproportionately affect certain communities, particularly Indigenous and Black communities, whose experiences in the labour market have been shaped by the ongoing impacts of colonization, anti-Black racism, and other forms of discrimination.

In response, Employee by Design supports equity-based initiatives designed to reduce barriers, expand access to employment, and promote meaningful participation in the workforce. These initiatives may include targeted outreach, culturally responsive recruitment and employment support, individualized coaching, employer education, and inclusive hiring practices intended to address systemic disadvantage.

While our services are open to all, we acknowledge that achieving fairness sometimes requires tailored approaches that recognize unequal starting points. Our commitment to equity is grounded in the principle that inclusion is not about preferential treatment, but about removing obstacles that prevent individuals from accessing the same opportunities as others.

Employee by Design affirms its support for the rights and inclusion of individuals from all groups protected under human rights legislation, including but not limited to those defined by race, ancestry, place of origin, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed (religion), disability, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, marital status, and family status.

We are committed to working with employers across Canada to:

Promote inclusive, accessible, and bias-aware recruitment practices

Encourage workplace cultures rooted in respect, dignity, and belonging

Support accommodation and accessibility throughout the employment lifecycle

Advance reconciliation and anti-racism efforts through informed and responsible employment practices

Employee by Design believes that diverse and inclusive workplaces are stronger, more innovative, and more resilient. By supporting equity in employment, we aim to contribute to positive outcomes for individuals, organizations, and communities across Canada.
